Staff Positions

President, Laudholm Trust

Posted February 3, 2012. Laudholm Trust seeks a full-time, results-oriented, experienced development professional to lead its fundraising program. The President reports to the Laudholm Trust Board of Trustees and is responsible for building and overseeing a comprehensive fundraising program to support the mission of the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve (Wells Reserve) and to preserve the historic buildings and site located in Wells, Maine. The fundraising program will include but not be limited to major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations, membership, annual appeals, grants, planned giving, special events, site rentals, and campaigns. The candidate will work closely with the Laudholm Trust Board Executive Committee and trustees to recommend fundraising programs, report results, engage board committees, and manage the budget and financial reporting processes.

The President will serve as chair of the Reserve Management Authority (RMA), presiding over meetings of the board and conducting its business in an effective and collaborative manner. The RMA is a legislatively established governing board of directors composed of representatives having property, management, program, or financial interest in the Wells Reserve. The Reserve Director reports to this board.

The President works closely with the Reserve Director and has management responsibility for Laudholm Trust staff, volunteers, and functions associated with financial management, membership, site rentals, and event management.

MCC Environmental Educator — Education Program

Posted January 25, 2012. The MCC Environmental Educator will be involved with a variety of education projects. The educator will develop and implement the curriculum for Junior Researchers and Just for Kids summer day camps for children ages 6-12, working with an assistant to co-lead all of these programs. In the fall, the educator will lead public programs for adults and children, facilitate hands-on activities at special events, and conduct school programs for visiting groups of elementary, middle, and high school students. MCC Environmental Educator — Research Program

Posted January 25, 2012. The MCC Environmental Educator will be involved with at least three different projects, with the opportunity to participate in other work as time allows. Work will include fisheries assessment, biological monitoring, habitat assessment, water quality testing, data entry, writing, and community organizing. The educator will work with students and volunteers, use boats and fishing equipment, and take part in night sampling. Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The National Estuarine Research Reserve System’s Graduate Research Fellowship provides master’s degree students and Ph.D. candidates with an opportunity to conduct research of local and national significance that focuses on enhancing coastal zone management. Fellows do their research within a National Estuarine Research Reserve and gain hands-on experience by participating in their host reserve’s research and monitoring programs.
