We have been making final approvals for most of the exhibit displays, so the project is transitioning from design to fabrication. Here are a couple of panels that are now on their way from Main Street Design to Mystic Scenic Studios.

Yes, they are rather hard to read here on the web, but these particular panels will be 4 feet high and crisply legible when they're installed.

The Changing Landscape panel is a starting point, introducing the concept carried throughout the exhibits: Our landscape has been changing over time, both through natural means and human influence.

Different rooms will guide visitors through time periods defined both by date and by the nature of the landscape in our region at carefully selected moments in time. In other words…

  • 14,000 years ago to the 1400s: Wild Landscape — Glaciers and Wabanaki
  • 1600s to 1800s: Economic Landscape — Subsistence and Industrial Revolution
  • 1925: Domesticated Landscape — Progressive Farming and Lord Family
  • 1960 to 2010: Protected Landscape — Conservation and Environmentalism
  • Present Day: Changing Landscape — Our Work Today and Field Guides to the Reserve

We're excited to see everything in its place and are eager to share the dramatic change.

Our dedication events are still 3 months away and the Visitor Center will remain closed till then. Thank you for bearing with us!
