Education Advisory Committee meets
Associated People Suzanne Kahn Eder Paige Rutherford Michelle Presby Hannah Wilhelm
Toward the end of last Tuesday's meeting, long-time education committee member Betsy Stevens exclaimed, "The productivity of this education staff just boggles my mind!"
Hers was a natural reaction after Suzanne, Paige, Michelle, and Hannah finished their progress reports on a number of major projects:
- Trail Signs — This new set of signs, mainly focused on habitats and developed in cooperation with Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, is at the signmaker's shop and should be ready to install in a few weeks.
- Historic Building Signs — Content research for another set of signs has begun. These six will be about the farmhouse, water tower, ice house, horse and hay barn, cow barn, and creamery. They'll help visitors to understand the stories behind the historic structures while complementing the new exhibits.
- Changing Landscapes Exhibits — As mentioned a few weeks ago, the Visitor Center exhibits are being manufactured now. A number of odds and ends are still occupying staff, but much of the work now is in the waiting.
- Wild Friends in Wild Places — Also featured recently, this pilot program is proving popular with the education team as well as with students and teachers. The collaboration with the Center for Wildlife adds a valuable component to the offering.
- Program Calendar — A full suite of programs has been scheduled from May through September. They're all listed in the "summer" calendar, which has gone to press and will be ready to distribute by EcoDay.
