LiFE

LiFE begins now

Welcome to the Wells NERR LiFE project. The database is in its infancy, but is ready for use. You can start to explore LiFE at life.wellsreserve.org.

LiFE will inform, interpret, and inspire people to know the animals, plants, and other life forms drawing the attention of scientists, naturalists, and students at the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve.

We recommend the resources found at the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS), the USDA Plants Database, and the Tree of Life web project.

Wells NERR scientists keying marine invertebrates through microscopes.
Scientists at the Wells Reserve have identified hundreds of marine invertebrates collected during several projects done in estuarine, nearshore, and offshore environments. The LiFE database will display images of these animals along with biological information about them. It will also present data and analysis from these research projects.
