VACATION WEEK PACKED WITH PROGRAMS AT WELLS RESERVE

WELLS, MAINE - Wildlife, snow, and owls are featured in four programs planned for school vacation week at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm. A full program calendar is available at www.wellsreserve.org.

WILDLIFE IN WINTER
Monday, February 16, 10 am to 2 pm
Learn how animals in Maine survive our cold, snowy winters. Marine mammals have blubber, birds have insulating feathers, some mammals hibernate, and others have warm fur coats. We will examine bird feathers under microscopes, see how blubber keeps marine mammals warm, learn about hibernation, and take an animal tracking walk to see which animals are active in winter at the Reserve. This program is for children ages 6 to 9 and includes a combination of indoor and outdoor activities and games as well as a take home booklet. Group size is limited and prepayment is required. The program fee is $10 for members of Laudholm Trust and $15 for nonmembers. Call (207) 646-1555.
