ACCLAIMED FISH ARTIST AND AUTHOR TO SPEAK AT THE WELLS RESERVE

WELLS, MAINE -- James Prosek, acclaimed artist and author, will share tales from his worldwide fly fishing adventures on Tuesday, April 6, at 7 pm at the Wells Reserve, 342 Laudholm Farm Road in Wells. The program is free. Please bring a mug for complimentary coffee or tea. FMI: (207) 646-1555.

James Prosek has been a successful author and artist since publishing his first book, "Trout: An Illustrated History," when he was only 19. The book featured 70 paintings and sold more than 80,000 copies. The New York Times heralded Prosek as "a fair bid to become the Audubon of the fishing world." Prosek has also been profiled in People, Sports Illustrated, Life Magazine, Men’s Journal, and Country Living, among others. His television appearances have included the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, CBS Sunday Morning, and CNN.

Prosek was introduced to painting by his father through the works of John James Audubon. Prosek claims Winslow Homer as his favorite painter, but admires the facility of John Singer Sargent and the color genius of Van Gogh. He started fishing as a youth and became an avid fisherman as his skill with the paintbrush grew.

With several books to his credit and his paintings sought internationally, Prosek should provide a transfixing talk.

The Wells Reserve, with facilities at historic Laudholm Farm, is committed to investigating coastal environments and increasing understanding of their ecology.
