The presentation is free and open to the public. Please bring your bag lunch and a mug for free organic coffee or tea. The reserve will provide drinks and dessert, so reservations are requested at (207) 646-1555. Maine is home to two species of flying squirrel, both of which are more common than you might think. Flying squirrels are about the size of a chipmunk, but are creatures of the night. Come find out if flying squirrels really fly, where they live, and what they like about your backyard. Chuck Lubelczyk, a field biologist for the Maine Medical Center Research Institute, will make the presentation. Lubelczyk has worked extensively on small mammal ecology in southern Maine since 1994. He calls the flying squirrel the most elusive and unique animal he has had the pleasure of studying. The Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve, with facilities at historic Laudholm Farm, is committed to investigating coastal environments and increasing understanding of their ecology. The Wells Reserve is located at 342 Laudholm Farm Road in Wells, just off Routes 1 and 9 near the Kennebunk line. www.wellsreserve.org # # #
