www.wellsreserve.org/news/2004-10-06_seed.htmBIRD SEED SALE HELPS EDUCATION AT WELLS RESERVE AND AUDUBONWELLS, MAINE --- The Wells Reserve and the York County Audubon Society have begun their annual bird seed fund raiser. Proceeds will benefit the education programs of both organizations. Stocking up on bird seed is an autumn ritual. Bird feeding is a popular pursuit in Maine and that's no wonder. The attractive acrobats feel like friends, faithfully visiting just outside our homes. And a Maine winter sure is brightened by the sight of a cardinal or blue jay against drifts of windblown snow. Pick up a bird seed order form at the Wells Reserve visitor center, call (207) 646-1555 to have one mailed, or download it [64 kb PDF] at www.wellsreserve.org. Orders placed before November 1 get the greatest discount. Seed can be picked up at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm on November 19, 20, or 21. Feeders and other accessories will be available for sale at the pickup spot. The premium-quality seed, which is fresh from the 2004 crop, is supplied by Quinney's Feed and Seed, a division of Blue Seal. Keep your feathered friends full and warm this winter while helping to support two local non-profit environmental organizations. For more information, call Laura at (207) 646-1555 ext 110. # # #
