The talk is free, but donations are accepted. Reservations are not needed. Please bring your own mug for free organic coffee or tea. The show reviews efforts at Cornell University to breed peregrine falcons and restore them to the wild. The other stars of this show, many featured in close-up shots, include kestrels, gyrfalcons, fuzzy peregrine chicks, vultures, saw-whet owls, and great horned owls. Photographs will be available for purchase. A professional photographer for over 25 years, Kevin Byron specializes in wildlife and outdoor subjects, with an additional interest in maritime documentation. Byron uses traditional equipment, rather than digital cameras. His photos have appeared in Time, Newsweek, Forbes, and in local advertising. His work has been published in several books, and in the annual updates of Jane's Merchant Ships, U.K. since 1999. Monica Russo is the author/illustrator of several books on natural history subjects for young readers. Her books include Insect Almanac (1991), the Tree Almanac (1993), Watching Nature (1998), and a series of seven educational workbooks for children, focusing on nature and wildlife, from Sterling Publishing in New York. The Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve, with facilities at historic Laudholm Farm, is committed to investigating coastal environments and increasing understanding of their ecology. The Wells Reserve is located at 342 Laudholm Farm Road, just off Routes 1 and 9 near the Wells-Kennebunk line. For more information, visit www.wellsreserve.org or call (207) 646-1555. # # #
