INSECTS OF THE SALT MARSH - MORE THAN MOSQUITOS

WELLS, MAINE - On Friday, March 9 at noon, ecologist Martin Junco will discuss the tremendous variety of insects that inhabit the salt marshes of southern Maine during a free talk at the Wells Reserve, 342 Laudholm Farm Road, just off U.S. Route 1 near the Wells-Kennebunk line.

Many people think of insects as just a nuisance, but many plants and animals depend on insects for their survival. Junco will display an insect collection and describe how entomologists study insects. He will also touch on insect control methods and how certain pollutants are absorbed by insect larvae and passed through the food chain.

The program is part of the Wells Reserve's informal Lunch 'n' Learn series. Bring a bag lunch and a mug for free organic coffee or tea. Reservations are requested at (207) 646-1555.
