GAME WARDEN TO SPEAK AT WELLS RESERVE

WELLS, MAINE - Tim Spahr, a sargeant in the Maine Warden Service, will talk about his work as a game warden in a free presentation at the Wells Reserve on Wednesday, February 27, at noon.

Spahr will tell tales from a game warden's perspective, from finding lost hikers in the remote western mountains to enforcing exotic fish laws in urban restaurants.

Game wardens are the authority of the forests, fields, waterways, and ice of the State of Maine. Since 1880, members of the Maine Warden Service have enforced hunting and fishing regulations and searched for people lost in the woods. Their duties also include enforcing laws pertaining to snowmobiles, watercraft, and all-terrain vehicles, as well as assisting with programs for hunter safety.

Spahr has been with the Maine Warden Service for 11 years. He lives in Kennebunk and is co-owner of the environmental design firm Spahr & Dabrowski, LLC.

This program is part of the Wells Reserve's informal Lunch 'n' Learn series, so bring a bag lunch to Mather Auditorium at Wells Reserve, 342 Laudholm Farm Road in Wells, just off Routes 1 and 9 near the Kennebunk line. Reservations are requested at (207) 646-1555.
