EARTH DAY CELEBRATION AT WELLS RESERVE

WELLS, MAINE - Wells Reserve and Laudholm Trust host a family friendly Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 19, from 10 am to 3 pm. The event is free. For information, visit www.wellsreserve.org or call 207-646-1555.

This year's focus is on water. Kids can become a water molecule and journey through the water cycle or make a rain storm over our model watershed. Adults can talk with Wells Reserve staff about watershed stewardship activities and water quality monitoring programs. The Coastal Resource Library doors will be open, too.

As always, Earth Day at Wells Reserve features conservation groups, businesses, schools, and other organizations offering hands-on activities and demonstrating what they do to make our planet a healthier place.

Scheduled Activities for Earth Day at Wells Reserve
Saturday, April 19, 10 am to 3 pm

  • 10:30 am: Dedication for New Interpretive Trail Signs
  • 11:30 am to 12:30 pm: Water Tales with storyteller Debra Ballou

The Wells Reserve boasts seven miles of trails through fields, forests, marshes, and along a sandy beach.

The 2008 Wells Reserve Earth Day Celebration is supported by donations to Laudholm Trust from Pratt & Whitney, Stop & Shop, and Grandy Oats.

Laudholm Trust will also be kicking off its Punkinfiddle raffle, featuring a kayak donated by Bandaloop and outdoor gear donated by L.L. Bean. The winners will be selected at the National Estuaries Day Celebration in September.
