Docent Training: Exploring Estuaries

Friday, April 14, 2017, 9:30 am – 1:00 pm View more Events

We all live downstream! Everyone and everything needs the estuary! Enjoy walking on the trails and spending time with elementary students? This may be the program for you! Through hands-on exploration of the estuary, we strive to help students discover and appreciate the connections between the land and sea. Trailside exploration stations immerse the students in learning about and lending a hand for the estuary. Activities may include: testing the salinity of water, investigating forest finds, observing skins and skulls of local wildlife, cleaning up the beach, and learning about human impacts on estuaries with an interactive watershed model. This training will cover: basic curriculum and a run through of the program.

Please dress for the weather and the trails. Meet in the Teaching Lab in the Maine Coastal Ecology Center.
