Every Maine community includes small dams along its rivers and streams. Many of these dams no longer serve a purpose and are not maintained, yet continue to block fish passage, fragment habitat, degrade water quality, and present a potential safety hazard. Wells Reserve Stewardship Coordinator, Tin Smith, will describe how the Wells Reserve partnered with the Great Works Regional Land Trust to remove a dam, restoring free flow to a stream for the first time in over 300 years. Suggested donation of $2/person. Pre-registration is not required.
