Join us to celebrate the fascinating feat of bird migration across the globe!
Update May 8: Be among the first to check out the new book by Jeffrey and Allison Wells, Maine's Favorite Birds, which will be hot off the press from Tilbury House for International Migratory Bird Day!
Jeff and Allison will lead a bird walk, make a presentation ("From Away," below), and sign books. Don't miss this great opportunity to meet and bird with the authors.
From Away: Where Maine's Birds Really Come From — Most people who enjoy birds think of them as "their" birds. They may not think too much about where the birds are coming from, or where they are going. In celebration of International Migratory Bird Day, Jeff and Allison Wells, authors of the new book, Maine's Favorite Birds, will reveal the fascinating facts, mysteries, and stories about the international lives of some of your favorite Maine birds.
More Activities
Stop by the bird banding station (weather permitting) to witness a long term research study in action (that's master bander June Ficker holding a northern waterthrush on Bird Day 2011). Go on a bird walk to view migratory birds in their habitat and listen for their songs. Meet live raptor animal ambassadors with the Center for Wildlife. It's all free!
