This course is a pilot for Teachers on the Estuary (TOTE), a research- and field-based teacher training initiative of the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. The goals of TOTE are:

1. to improve teacher and student understanding of the environment using local examples
2. to support the incorporation of estuary and watershed topics into classroom teaching

The course will introduce teachers to information, research, and classroom activities about watersheds, estuaries, and coastal systems. It involves investigations in the field and the use of online data.

Course content and activities will be aligned with Maine Learning Results.
