Emily J. Greene wears several hats:
- Beach Profile Monitoring Volunteer Coordinator, Wells Reserve
- Coastal Training Program Associate, Wells Reserve
- Saco Watershed Collaborative Fellow, University of New England
Emily coordinates the recruitment, training, communication, and beach profile monitoring with volunteers at the Wells Reserve. “Beach profiling” is a simple method of measuring the changes in the contours of a monitored beach over time. The purpose of beach profiling is to record the levels of beach erosion and accretion so that we can track the changes and make recommendations to municipalities on beach management.
Emily also works with Dr. Christine Feurt in the Coastal Training Program at the Wells Reserve, and on the Saco Watershed Collaborative. She assists in facilitating the sharing and mobilization of collaborative learning and knowledge among municipalities, nonprofit organizations, state and federal agencies, and academic institutions.
Emily received both her B.S. in Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of New England. She hails from southern Maine and is a dedicated advocate and conservationist of Maine’s natural resources!
