We are putting teachers on the estuary again this summer by offering a free workshop that will provide educators with activities to bring back to their classes. The workshop will train up to twelve educators in water quality monitoring, phenology, citizen science, and climate change. It is geared towards middle and high school science teachers, though other educators are welcome to apply.
Please note: The workshop at Wells Reserve will be held Wednesday, July 24 through Friday, July 26, 2019. Review of applications will begin May 15, 2019. Applications received after that date will be considered on a space available basis.

What to Expect
The three-day Teachers on the Estuary "Eyes on the Estuary: Observation and Monitoring on Land and Water" 2019 workshop will get teachers outside on the estuary and marsh, learning by doing. It will also expose teachers to scientists, who will present on current research and provide applicable ways of teaching scientific concepts back in the classroom.
This TOTE workshop will equip teachers with activities they can replicate with their students. Time for reflection while nature journaling and processing with fellow teachers will be provided each day.
Each teacher will receive a $200 stipend to use towards implementing a stewardship project with their students during the 2019/2020 school year. Teachers traveling a distance will also receive free lodging. Breakfast and lunch are provided each day of the workshop, as well as snacks.
