Please join us for the first workshop of the Climate Ready Coast - Southern Maine project - a two-year regional initiative to develop Maine’s first regional coastal resilience plan for the state’s 10 southernmost communities, from Kittery to Scarborough. Project Working Group members and interested stakeholders are invited to participate and learn about the regional project, as well as resources from Maine and NOAA’s Digital Coast program that can support coastal resilience planning. Working Group members will have the opportunity to share input on the project tasks, including the upcoming regional vulnerability assessment and stakeholder engagement efforts.

Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Know about the Climate Ready Coast - Southern Maine project goal, objectives, activities, and timeline as well as future opportunities to engage with the project 
  • Familiarize themselves with Digital Coast as a suite of resources on relevant coastal topics, including sea level rise, shoreline change, marsh migration, land conservation, habitat data, and coastal resilience
  • Understand sea level rise planning horizons for the region and Maine and where to find more information
  • Know who the Maine and NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management contacts are for additional technical assistance
