Join us on Tuesday 9/20/22 at 10:00am for an educational field trip about how chop-and-drops are used for watershed management in the Thatcher Brook Watershed (a smaller tributary and subwatershed of the Saco River Watershed)! Rain or shine, please dress appropriately for the weather and a short walk into the woods. Parking is limited to about 10 cars, carpooling is encouraged.
Partner Acknowledgment
York County Soil and Water Conservation District (YCSWCD) works with the Cities of Biddeford and Arundel, the Maine Department of Transportation, Biddeford High School, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Saco Watershed Collaborative. Together, these partners formed the Thatcher Brook Watershed Restoration Workgroup which works to incorporate innovative, nature-based solutions and best management practices to stormwater and watershed management. Activities include outreach and education, water quality monitoring, land and water conservation, structural engineering and retrofits, and restoration.
Habitat Restoration Professionals
Field Geology Services and Caribou Springs, LLC are two independent contractors that recently completed a successful chop n drop stream habitat restoration for Phase III of the Thatcher Brook Watershed Restoration Project.
