This event is handicap accessiblePollinators are special. Everyone knows that, right? Here’s how special: 90% of the world’s flowering plants require animal pollination. And 80% of the worlds plants overall need animal pollination.
The University of Maine and University of New Hampshire Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are helping gardens, both public and private, and other growing environments become more favorable habitats to protect and maintain populations of these important animals. This is being done through education outreach and a Pollinator-Friendly Garden Certification Program. These initiatives create beautiful, ecologically healthy and productive spaces that benefit wildlife and, in turn, us as well.
Join UMaine Extension Master Gardener Volunteers Allan Amioka and David Thomson for a Lunch and Learn session to find out about what you can do to make your garden “Pollinator-Friendly." There are currently 74 gardens across Maine and New Hampshire that have been certified and that number is continually growing. Every space helps them and benefits us all.
This program is being offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers.
