Garrett Powers and Sophia Paul are part of a team of four graduate students from the University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability providing recommendations on the formation of a Saco River watershed collaborative. They will discuss the benefits of natural resource collaboratives, describe how they went about studying people and organizations in the Saco River watershed, and provide a brief overview of their findings.

  • Garrett Powers is a second year Master’s student in Environmental Policy. He is interested in collaborative and mediated decision-making processes and how they intersect with community-level climate change adaptation. He served in Morocco as a youth and community development Peace Corps Volunteer form 2014-2016.
  • Sophia Paul is a second year Master’s student in Environmental Planning and Environmental Justice focusing on community engaged processes and food justice. Sophia has a background in nonprofit management and an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College.
