Thank you for considering the Wells Reserve and Laudholm Trust when planning for your estate. Expressing your support through a legacy gift ensures the future advancement of coastal research, education, and conservation programs, and the preservation and use of historic buildings, at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm.

If you and your family are planning to leave a lasting legacy to protect Maine’s coastal environment, we would be honored to know in advance about your intentions.

Further Details

A bequest is a gift of assets made to Laudholm Trust as part of a donor’s estate.

To bequeath a specific amount, language along these lines should be added to your will:

I give, devise, and bequeath to the Laudholm Trust in Wells, Maine, the sum of $____, for use in (state the purpose for which the bequest is to be used, or indicate “general purposes”).

To bequeath a percentage of the estate:

I give, devise, and bequeath to the Laudholm Trust in Wells, Maine, ____% of my residual estate, both real and personal, for use in (state the purpose for which the bequest is to be used, or indicate “general purposes”).

Laudholm Trust encourages donors to recognize that over the many years following the designation of a bequest, the needs, policies, and circumstances of the Wells Reserve can change in unforeseen ways. Laudholm Trust must have the flexibility to make use of funds in the best interests of our mission; donors are thus advised to describe the purposes of their gifts as broadly as possible and avoid detailed limitations and restrictions.  Intentions of known planned gift donors will be recorded at the Laudholm Trust office. Laudholm Trust will be responsible for maintaining a confidential record of information about the known provisions in the will.
