Brilliant Painterly Day

Posted by | July 16, 2006

Watching an artist at workShade is in high demand. Artists are beneath the copper beech and any other trees that block the searing sun. They're on the farmhouse porch and in the horse barn's shadow. And they have set their umbrellas into the earth, put on their wide-brimmed straw hats, and sought similar shelter because it's hot out there.

That hasn't kept away the onlookers. Gentle strolling is the way to move on a day like today — and the best way to appreciate the artists at work. A leisurely pace gives time to visit with painters, most of whom are happy to greet passersby.

The auction that is just a couple of hours off is sure to be a success, given the extraordinary talent assembled here at Laudholm today.
