Happy Winter Solstice!

The Wells Reserve elves have been busy during this festive time of year, with a new story walk installed on the trails just in time for the winter solstice! Sometime before the spring equinox, wander over to the Saw-whet Owl trailhead and immerse yourself in Thanks to the Animals by Passamaquoddy storyteller Allan Sockabasin, with illustrations by East Blue Hill artist Rebekah Raye. This beautiful book tells the story of myriad woodland animals coming to the rescue when little Zoo Sap falls off of his family's bobsled, keeping him warm and sheltered until his father finds him.

The round-trip distance of this story walk is roughly one mile over fairly flat terrain with exposed roots, wandering through forest and field before ending at a salt marsh overlook.
